Mastering French: Top Content Creators to Boost Your Beginner Skills on YouTube and Instagram

Salut tout le monde! Now that you've fully immersed yourself in the world of French by listening to some French music and watching some French movies and shows, it's time to get to know some good content creators that you can learn a lot from, especially if you're struggling to learn and practice some beginner-level concepts.

In this blog post, I'm going to introduce you to some amazing French teachers from Instagram and YouTube who have saved me from time to time! They offer engaging ways to improve your language skills, and their content is perfect for beginner learners.

But before we dive in, I want to share an important point about these platforms! In my experience, most Instagram pages dedicated to teaching French don't actually offer much in the way of learning, mainly because their content is too short to offer any knowledge or value. But it's not entirely pointless, because I know that many of you might find yourself mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, and a few of these pages will help remind you that you need to go practice your French. Or you might learn some useful slang or vocabulary from these pages and find something interesting that you want to research and learn even more! But another advantage of these pages is that their creators often live in France, and if you're interested in seeing what life is like in France, then it's like seeing it for yourself through their stories!

However, YouTube offers more practical content due to the length of its content. So you can really learn and practice your French with YouTube! You can also find lots and lots of vlogs about French culture or travel vlogs! So YouTube is my preferred platform in this area.

Learning from YouTube

1.     1.   Learn French with Alexa

Alexa is the first content creator I came across on YouTube as a beginner. She offers lessons on a variety of topics, including grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. She has a way of teaching you and making you practice at the same time so that by the time you finish one of her videos, you realize that you've mastered the topic being taught. But of course, to keep the things you learn fresh in your mind, you would have to use them again and practice them. If it wasn't for her, I would still be struggling with the French numbers to this day!

2.      Learn French with Vincent

Vincent offers a variety of different lessons for beginners who want to start strong and fast! He has a really neat and organized channel that covers a lot of things, but his most interesting and exciting videos are his extensive and long videos that cover everything you need!

3.     Comme une Française

Géraldine, the creator of Comme une Française, focuses on helping learners sound more like native speakers. Her videos focus on common mistakes that French learners make and how to avoid them. She also makes content about French culture that is both fun and practical for learners who are interested in the language. But if you want to stick to the basics and don't want to go too deep with your learning because you just want to pass a course, then this channel is probably not for you.

4.     FrenchPod101

If you believe in learning languages while you sleep, then you're in for a treat! Because FrenchPod101 has a 9-hour video designed for beginners to sleep through! Personally, I don't find it useful, but it's definitely interesting enough to check out or even try for yourself! But other than that, they have learning content in both audio and video formats, both short and long. Their content is structured so that learners of all levels can find it useful. They also often include cultural insights that can improve your understanding of the language.

Browsing through Instagram

Before we go through our list, I have to say that most of the influencers on this list speak Farsi as their first language and their content may not be very useful for those who do not speak Farsi. This blog was essentially created for Farsi-speaking students who are majoring in ELS and want to pass a French course like I once did!

1.     1.French.allday (Farsi-speaking)

I basically started following this page because they post short clips of French movies or animations and then try to teach you the language through that. I find this method quite useful because I've learned a lot from it in the past with the English language.

2.     2.Chaseinfrench (English-speaking)

This page is a fun one! Because they try to teach you French by rapping or singing, which is pretty entertaining and the lyrics will stick in your head! It's great for conjugations!

3.     3.French.with.mary (Farsi-speaking)

The owner of this page is a beautiful girl who tries to teach you useful phrases, verbs and slang in different settings. It's good if you don't have much time to learn, but you also don't want to neglect your learning process!

4.     4.Shima_zandi.fr (Farsi-speaking)

This page is my favorite one! Not because I necessarily learn a lot from it, but because the girl who owns this page lives in Paris and teaches French in various settings in my dream city, Paris. She shows you the real experience of living in Paris as well as teaching you the language. She motivates me to practice my French every day!

So, grab your notebook, tune into their channels, and let the language-learning adventure begin! À bientôt!
